Social Division focusing on Care giving Status and Attitude toward Welfare
Choi Hye-Ji

Abstract
This study was elaborated from the idea that social division has been mainly explained by social class paradigm even though new social risks have emerged which are loosely connected with social class. Based on that notion, this study explored the social division regarding attitude toward welfare corresponding with risk status on care giving. Data on 1051 Korean adults aged 20 and over from KGSS data set were analyzed with Latent Class Analysis. Results revealed that five risk groups were identified according to the level of involvement in family care giving and belief system related to care giving. Membership of risk group was significantly associated with attitude toward welfare. Also, one conflict line was confirmed between three risk groups stongly supporting high level of welfare and two groups supporting economic development over welfare.
